What we do with your information.
The short version: you only give us anything if you join the waitlist or send us your Growth Gap result, it only ever goes to us, and you can have it deleted by asking.

In one line
We collect what you choose to send us. Nothing else, by anyone else, for any other purpose.
1. Who we are
Engaged is the business growth platform at engagedspeaking.co.uk, founded by Ed James and Ellie-Rose Griffiths. For anything you send us through this website, Engaged is the data controller — meaning we are the ones responsible for it.
The person to contact about any of this is Ellie-Rose Griffiths, at ellie@ergmanagement.co.uk. There is no form to fill in and no reference number to quote — an email reaches a person.
2. What we collect
Three things, and only three.
What you type into the waitlist form
If you fill in the form on the Get started page, we receive whatever you put in it:
- Your name
- Your company, if you give one
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you give one — this is optional
- Which programme you are waiting for
- Whatever you write in the message box
Only your name and email address are required. The rest is there because it helps us reply usefully, and you can leave it blank.
Your Growth Gap result, if you send it
The Growth Gap diagnostic runs entirely in your browser, and answering it sends us nothing. At the end you can choose to send us your result. If you do, we receive your name, your email address, your company if you give one, and the result itself: your overall score, the score for each of the eight disciplines, your biggest gap and the programme it recommended. We do not receive the individual answers you picked.
Standard server records
Like every website, ours runs on a server that keeps a short technical record of requests made to it: the IP address the request came from, the type of browser and device, and which page was asked for. We do not use these records to identify anybody or to build a picture of who visits. They exist so the site can be kept running and defended against abuse.
3. What we do not collect
This is worth stating plainly, because it is unusual. This website has no cookies, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no embedded YouTube or Vimeo player watching you, and no social media tracker.
Every font, image and film on this site is served from our own server rather than someone else’s, so simply reading these pages sends your details to nobody. There is more detail on the cookies page, which is short.
4. Why we collect it, and what allows us to
Under UK data protection law we have to have a specific lawful basis for holding your information. Ours are these:
- The waitlist and your Growth Gap result — your consent. You give us your details by choosing to fill in a form. We use them to reply to what you sent, to talk to you about your result if you sent one, and to tell you when places open. You can withdraw that consent whenever you like.
- Server records — our legitimate interests. We have a genuine interest in the site staying up, loading properly and not being attacked, and keeping brief technical records is a normal and proportionate way of doing that.
We will not use your details to sell you something unrelated, and we will not add you to a general marketing list because you joined a waitlist. Those are different things and we treat them as different things.
5. Who else can see it
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or pass it to other companies to market to you. Two suppliers necessarily handle it in the course of getting it to us:
- Netlify hosts this website and captures the form submission before passing it on to us.
- Our email provider, because the submission arrives as an email and then sits in an inbox like any other message.
Both act on our instructions rather than their own. Netlify is based in the United States, so where your information is transferred outside the UK it is protected by the safeguards set out in Netlify’s data processing agreement.
We would also disclose information if the law required us to. That has never happened.
6. How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details and Growth Gap results until one of three things happens: you ask us to delete them, you tell us you are no longer interested, or two years pass with no contact between us. Whichever comes first.
If you go on to become a client, your details move onto a different footing, because we will then have a contract with you and records we are obliged to keep. We would tell you about that at the time.
7. What you can ask us to do
UK data protection law gives you a set of rights over information we hold about you. In practice they mean you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Stop using it, or restrict what we do with it
- Hand it over in a portable form
- Take you off the waitlist, which is the same as withdrawing your consent
Email ellie@ergmanagement.co.uk and say which one you want. You do not need to give a reason and it costs nothing. We will deal with it within one month, and in practice faster than that — the list is not large and there is no system to go through.
8. If you are unhappy with how we have handled it
Tell us first, at ellie@ergmanagement.co.uk, and we will try to put it right. If that does not resolve it, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection.
They can be reached at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You can complain to them without telling us first if you would rather.
9. Changes to this notice
If we start doing something different with your information — adding analytics, say, or using a new supplier — we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your email address, we will tell you directly rather than quietly editing a page and hoping you notice.
